UP Minister Gulabo Devi Injured as Convoy Vehicles Collide in Hapur

The minister was hospitalised after she met with the accident on NH- 9, while her convoy was en route from Delhi to Bijnor.

Uttar Pradesh Education Minister Gulabo Devi met with a road accident on Tuesday in Hapur district. The incident occurred on National Highway-9 in the Pilkhuwa Kotwali area, where vehicles in her convoy collided with each other. The minister sustained severe injuries in the accident. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. It is reported that her convoy was travelling from Delhi to Bijnor when the accident occurred.

Gulabo Devi serves as the Minister of State for Secondary Education (Independent Charge) in the Yogi Adityanath-led government. In 2022, she was elected for the fifth consecutive time and became the most senior woman minister of state (independent charge) in the Yogi cabinet. Devi is the current MLA from the Chandausi Assembly seat in the Sambhal region. Gulabo Devi has previously served as a political science teacher and later as the principal at the same Kanya Inter College in Chandausi.

She first contested and won the Chandausi Assembly seat in 1991. She later won elections from the same seat in 1996, 2002, 2017, and 2022. In the years 2008 to 2012, she also served as Vice President of BJP in Uttar Pradesh.

Minister Injured in Road Accident

On Tuesday, Minister Gulabo Devi was travelling from Delhi to Amroha. Near the Chhijarsi Toll Plaza, a vehicle in front suddenly applied brakes. The security vehicles following also had to stop. However, the driver of the minister’s car could not brake in time, causing her vehicle to collide with the one in front.

Receiving Treatment in Hospital

As soon as the accident was reported, police and administration officials rushed to the scene. The minister was taken out of the vehicle and immediately admitted to the nearby Rama Hospital. Pilkhuwa Kotwali Station House Officer Patneesh Kumar informed that Gulabo Devi is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. She is now out of danger.
